Jason Turnbull

After gaining tertiary qualifications in Information Technology in 1994, Jason successfully auditioned for classical voice at the Conservatorium of Music.  In 1997 Jason joined a then fledgling The Ten Tenors and at the end of the following year took leave from his studies as the group started touring full-time.

During his time with The Ten Tenors, Jason saw the group grow from driving themselves around regional Australia in mini-vans, performing to 100s of people a night to traveling all over the world performing to over 10,000 people a week. The group tours for ten to eleven months of the year, and averages about 250 full-length live shows in this period, as well as media and corporate events.

Career highlights include performances at the 1999 and 2004 AFL Grand Finals, featuring as the pirate chorus in Simon Gallaher’s 2001 production of “The Pirates of Penzance”, performing as guest artists at the 2002 and 2004 German Eurovision Song Contest Finals, as part of the “G’Day LA” promotion of Australian artists in Los Angeles with Steve Irwin in 2004, opening a new terminal at Hamburg International Airport in 2005, a red carpet appearance at the 2005 Emmy Awards, and numerous appearances on national network television in America and Europe.

Jason retired from full-time touring in 2006 just prior to the birth of his daughter. During this year he continued to perform with the group domestically, completed his Master of Music and while doing so worked for The Ten Tenors as Multimedia Communications Manager from their Brisbane office.

Jason currently performs on a semi-regular basis with a few of his old tour mates as part of Tenori. Tenori perform all over Australia at large scale corporate events and private functions.

As a teacher Jason enjoys the process of imparting his years of training and performance experience to young singers.
