SONY DSCAs Principal of Charmaine Gibbs Studio’s, Charmaine’s career history is the culmination of over 20 years of both performing and coaching experience.

An invited soloist with the London College of Music and obtaining her A.T.C.L in Performance at Trinity College, London, Charmaine brings with her a wealth of experience to the teaching and mentoring forum.

Having studied over the years not only for her A.T.C.L but also her 8th Grades with both AMEB and ANZCA, her teachers have included renowned Opera Australia Soprano Amanda Thane, International Soprano Kerrie O’Connor &  Opera Australia’s Trevor Brown,  English National Opera’s  Anne Howard.

Charmaine’s stage roles have included Diana in the Sydney Premiere of “Next to Normal”, Maria in “The Sound of Music”, both Eponine and Fantine in “Les Miserables”, Ellen in “Miss Saigon”, Florence Vassey in “Chess”, Eliza Doolittle in “My Fair Lady”, The Baker’s Wife in “Into the Woods”, Nancy in “Oliver”, and the tour de force, one woman show “Tell me on a Sunday”.

Her corporate engagements include Business and Tourism awards, Australia Day Celebrations, and Carols by Candlelight spectaculars which have seen her perform alongside the likes of Normie Rowe, Michael Cormick, Rhonda Burchmore, Rebecca Tapia, Roger Corser and Thern Reynolds .

A career highlight for Charmaine was when she was given the opportunity as a guest artist, to sing with and work alongside Anthony Warlow and under the baton of the late Tommy Tycho AM MBE.

A voice and performance coach with a passion for marrying technique, stage craft and performance skills has seen her own studio grow rapidly in student numbers over recent years. 2011, ‘12 & ’13 has seen Charmaine as an invited Vocal Coach and consultant for “The NSW Schools Spectacular”, a role she will undertake again in 2014 and a role she has undertaken for the last 5 years for ISER’s (Illawarra & South East Region Performing Arts) “Southern Stars” and in ’13 for the Hunter/Central Coast region’s “Star Struck”.

With over 16 years’ teaching experience, some of her past students include Talent Development Program (an initiative set up and run under the direction of Mary Lopez AM) Graduates Shannon Brown (The Ten Tenors-Performer & Associate Musical Director), Lincoln Hall (credits include current Australians cast of Les Miserables, War Horse, & Rock of Ages) & Penny Hartgerink (Australian recording artist), in addition to many students now studying full time courses at leading performing arts tertiary institutions; VCA (Victorian College of the Arts) and NIDA.
